Install Butterfly...
The next step is to install butterfly. To do that you will need to download the iso file, burn it to a usb pen drive, and then plug the usb stick into the old laptop and boot from the usb stick. Then follow the instructions to install Butterfly...

Find a usb stick that is bigger than 1Gb. The Butterfly iso is only approx. 700Mb.

Burn the iso file to a usb stick. To do that you will need to install some software on your machine. I suggest that you use Unetbootin. Follow the instructions, making sure to select the iso file that you downloaded. ***IT IS SUPER IMPORTANT*** that you select the usb drive to burn the iso to. Make sure it is the usb stick and not the harddrive of your computer! Here is a video demonstrating the process...

Plug the usb stick into the laptop, and start the laptop from the usb. Different laptops have different ways of doing this. Some laptops will allow you to press a function key when starting the laptop. Others require you to start windows, and select the option in the settings. Follow this guide to find out more...

Save your files before you install!
Make sure that you have saved any files from the laptop before you install Butterfly.

Connect to wifi!
When Butterfly is installed, you can choose a different wifi network by pressing the following keys:
CTRL - ALT - W
This will open the wifi network chooser.
To connect to a wired network, insert the cable and then press the above keys, which should then connect.

1. First make sure the correct language keyboard is chosen. Select 'Set keyboard layout', and scroll down to 'gb' for British keyboard.
Activate restricted mode in Youtube!
Make sure to activate restricted mode in youtube, once Butterfly is installed.
This will further filter content to present only child safe content to the laptop user. Once it is activated make sure to lock it! (instructions on Relax! page.
2. Select how to connect. In general you will want to select wireless connection --> then 'Configure connection using DHCP'. Select your wifi network from the dropdown box. Select your wifi network encryption type (will normally be WPA/WPA2 Personal). Then type your wifi network password into the 'Password/Key' box. When typing your wifi password, make sure that all the characters that you type enter the password box. If some characters are not appearing, check if your laptop has a number pad built into the keyboard. If it does, try clicking the 'NumLk' (Number lock) key, and try again.
3. Click 'Next'. Ignore the next page (proxy settings) and just click 'next'. Then select 'Mozilla Firefox browser'. Butterfly requires Firefox and cannot be used with Chrome.
4. Click 'Next' and 'Next' again to confirm your choices. The laptop will try and connect to https://porteus-kiosk.org to download the necessary software. If you find that it has reached attempt 30 or less (counting down from 50), then you may need to reenter your wifi password. Select 'Launch network wizard', and restart the process from step 2 above.
5. The laptop should connect ok, and will then download firefox. You will then need to set the settings for the laptop. To do this, choose 'Load kiosk configuration from the network location' (bottom left hand button).
6. In the text box that appears, enter the following text: https://tinyurl.com/yc85c438
7. Almost there! In the configuration settings that appear, you need to enter your wifi network password (wpa_password) and your wifi network name (ssid_name).
8. Click 'Next' and then 'Next' again, ignoring the updates service. Butterfly should work safely without updates, but if you would feel more secure doing so, then you can get in touch with the admin at porteus-kiosk.org and pay to enable updates.
9. Now you need to select the hard drive that is inside the laptop. Make sure you don't select the usb stick. To select the correct drive, make sure that it isn't the size of the usb stick. Once you have selected it, click 'Install system'.
When the Warning appears, click 'Proceed', wait a few minutes, and then remove the usb stick when prompted - the laptop will reboot. Your laptop CD drive door might pop open. Just close it.
That's it! Your laptop should now boot up to the youtube browser. If you see the installation screen again, then you have failed to remove the usb stick!
Simply shutdown the laptop, remove the usb stick and reboot.
